My leonieyue.com website finally got updated 8 years later. Also random blog things too.

My website didn’t want to change when I wanted to widen the content max width in css and html. Since past Leonie gave up with troubleshooting this then so will I ;P My old theme is good enough. I do not want to redo everything.

I am fed up by webdev improvement ads in my spam inbox though. I don’t want to change my website, nor can I afford to! Stop hustling me as if I can afford you :’)

It was time consuming trying to figure out what was going on with my website.

For the portfolio theme I am using – the devs don’t exist anymore!

It also took a long time adding the latest art and I didn’t care about limiting how many I put in ;P

The image carousel thing happens when you click on the art and there’s captions I had to manually copy over what past Leonie wrote when I first shared the art.

When I checked stats for my website, it seems like my art is getting the search engine views(?) rather than my actual site page and galleries? There’s still views on my actual galleries but it’s more 0-5 views so oof. Yeah it doesn’t look like my website is a high visitor kind of place.

And with my blog stats, views are scattered across my 785 blog posts so far. Whoa! And it seems like more people are actually looking at my latest blog posts – it used to be 1 to 4 views and now it’s 4 to 12 views? The stats don’t give me lifetime views for each blog post until I click on each of them and I’d rather not bother going that deep into caring about stats.

Are people viewing my stuff more?? Eep!!

I’m so used to posting to the void and I don’t want my hopes up. Some people who say they are readers don’t seem to know/remember any snippet at all from my blog so I just assume they’ve moved on or they didn’t actually read my ramblings haha 😛 At the same time please don’t talk about things from my blog just to prove you read it – it weirds me out because I don’t want that either! Keep it to yourself unless it naturally comes up as a mutual conversation topic or question!!

Anyhoo I’ll keep my expectations low because the views are going down by 60% apparently in the past week. I don’t know why it went up in the first place though. But sadly – overall the views in 2024 and 2025 were the lowest it’s ever been and suddenly there’s a spike in January. I don’t know and don’t want to care too much so I’ll refrain from checking stats/metrics again 🙁

It was 15 views for the previous blog post at least! It’s still an improvement because it’s so hard getting people click out of social media platforms :’D

I’m still a tad embarrassed and self conscious so I’ll just keep myself humble and continue sharing things to the void haha

To summarise I decided to update my portfolio website with more current art and captions! Also updated both my about pages for my website and blog to be closer to how I think. I’ve neglected them for so long. I got reminded that people do actually look at my website and blog sometimes so I found myself proofreading and editing a lot. Gosh it’s time consuming…

Now I need to make sure I update my portfolio along the way. Probably at the end of the year? I reflect on the year around then anyway so it works!

My tiny, quiet discord server channel outline (note I’m usually the one posting)

Please don’t expect a super engaged server – I stress it’s mostly me posting things I find every now and then!!

Most peeps are lurkers and have life priorities at my tiny server or don’t check at all?

Most don’t even post so I don’t know if they’re still around sometimes ;P But as a lurker myself at other servers, it’s hard to tell if someone is actually discord active in your own server (there is the prune “inactive discord users” ability though). I have started hiding the users list on the side so I don’t worry about who’s online or not.

I keep up the server because I don’t want to depend on social media to share things and it’s more interactive too. At the same time I do worry whether discord will change in horrible ways in the future. I hope there will be a good discord competitor out there :<

Digressing! So in the past week I’ve cleaned up 2 channels (goodbye updates and goodbye welcome-intro channels) and made this outline for my discord channels to clarify things!!

Voice channels aren’t being used due to timezones and I’m anxious about screensharing anyway so I’m considering neglecting them if I don’t end up removing them later.

Plz do not steal my channel set up (half kidding) ;P I had to iterate a lot with these channels to figure out what works for me. And to keep the amount of channels small and manageable for me – as I am the only mod. I also took some considerable time categorising and organising things that were shared in the ref n resources channel so that things are sorted into threads!

Anyhoo if you’re an adult and are a likeminded, cool and respectful person who reads and accept the rules, you are welcome to join! Otherwise if you can’t juggle being in another server, there is no pressure to join! I’d rather have peeps who want to stick around :’)

Leonie rambles about…

• No new art update this time because I’m just trying to build my art buffer slowly…
  • website updating took a bunch of my time too
  • a lot of proofreading my about pages (the blog about page is super rambly and long!!)
  • juggling a lot of non art things as well…
• for some reason someone tried to log into my inactive instagram account….makes me a bit uneasy
  • I don’t get anything for 7 years and then this email from instagram???
• was bummed to know that James Gurney has been in genAI circles, doing genAi experiments and demonstrates with genAi only at his substack for years
  • as much as he says he doesn’t use it in his own artwork, it feels like “it won’t affect me negatively because I’m established” and it’s just disappointing
  • I shared snippets at my tiny discord server at the art discussion channel if you want more context about this and his posts
• Oh Freeplay didn’t get enough funding for next year and onwards
  • the last one might just be later this year
  • they’re asking for help on what to do next
  • I don’t really go to this event in person but hey it affects games peeps and unfortunately it seems like games as a whole aren’t being funded this year because of limited budgets now
• got some more nice chats happening :’)
• drank and tried coconut water after decades and wow just like how I remembered it
  • it’s healthier than fruit juice apparently and it has potassium and natural sugar
  • but water still wins over it
  • I still like it so it’s a rare drink for me ;P

Anyhoo I got to go! I have stuff to do!

And summer hot weather is happening – I am not a summer person because it turns me into a sluggish, icky blob!!

And my eczema has been flaring up 🙁
