Watching movies with Rosalina and Luma! β˜„οΈ Happy MAR10 day! 🍿

Speedpaint process [short soon]

Managed to finish this art piece late last night and rushed this video out too!

I was stuck trying to export the timelapse 3 times though :S

Space queen and luma watching the upcoming Mario movie and all the Mario timelines ;D 🍿

Story of how Rosalina became a tragic princess video gives a good overview about Rosalina :’)

I got tired of drawing Mario, Luigi and Peach for MAR10 day so I changed my focus to Queen of the Cosmos.

She’s a pretty cool character with a heartfelt, bittersweet backstory.

Changed it so that it’s the Luma who was Mario’s companion (and stole Mario’s/Luigi’s hat) in the Mario Galaxy games!

Happy Mario Day!

No at the time of making/publishing this post I have not seen the Mario Movie direct ;P

Leonie rambles about topics from videos

Youtube hates Artists and Creators and it’s getting worse video (social media as well)

This video isn’t talking about anything new on how art content really isn’t really being shown to people and is suppressed.

How what’s most important is building your own little community and doing what you want with your art and not the metrics. Both community and metrics I lack :’)

It’s making me consider if I should have my own discord when I do have an actual community…one day :<

Apparently instagram is also doing paid verification, are testing broadcasts, giving some focus back on images, reshares and whatnot now. Gosh I wish I enjoyed using instagram to build a community there but I don’t and don’t have the bandwidth right now :’)

Maybe I’ll try out the new features if convenient but it’s too early to say!

TIKTOK IS A PLEASURE CUBE – Sournale

This is a video from someone who is the target demographic of the app and has spent over a year away addicted and consuming tiktok all day. How you’re just spending your life away to escape from reality too much.

How tiktok is a scarily addictive, designed, entertaining timesink to fall into since it ramps it up more than other social media platforms (and how other platfroms are also copying tiktok for this)! How they do not give you space and time to develop patience, get bored and hone your focus.

Personally the internet has already wrecked my attention span and I don’t want to make it worse. Tiktok and shorts gives me anxiety, there’s too much context switching and is overwhelming. I feel sad because I have to make shorts/reels to reach people on Youtube and Instagram :/ At best I repurpose my speedpaint videos and keep it predictable and chill.

I’m glad I don’t watch much shorts or reels and don’t use/watch tiktok! I’m just making simple timelapse videos for shorts and my main youtube videos! Most people scroll past that anyway – it’s not highly edited and optimised for low attention spans aside from the timelapse speed :’)

Why Anime Is on the Rise Even Though the Industry Is so Poor (from an anime producer)

Learning about this and reading the video’s comments feels depressing – they have to fight against most of the system, status quo and production committees in order to get better/good pay and conditions for animators, artists and workers and it doesn’t seem to be happening unless you somehow and miraculously break the system with your own independent money and funding. I have been wondering how they’ve been making so much anime while animation workers are still suffering to get by! For instance I hear about how they cut corners for one netflix anime – it’s essentially a slideshow with moving mouths (season 1 of Record of Ragnarok).

They’ve been stuck for a super long time and refuse to adjust to cater for inflation and the cost of living :<

I hear how non Japanese artists avoid working with Japanese anime companies because of this – crunch and low pay is expected while only the exploitative people/investors/etc at the top benefit from profits, thrive and get a say on how the budget is used.

This is not sustainable at all. I don’t know how this can be solved πŸ™

Personal rambles

Also watched RRR last month and I’ve realised that action movies stress/tense me out, it’s super draining and overwhelming just like an intense rollercoaster would for me :’) I had to take 2 breaks and I needed to decompress from the movie afterwards. RRR is a great, over the top movie though!

It’s a “Leonie is sensitive” problem where too much is going on and so I shut down and hyperfocus on one thing in the movie to pull myself through :0

Also saw Gone in 60 seconds as part of my selective Nicolas Cage marathon – it’s a good movie, glosses over brotherly love and how Angelina Jolie’s character doesn’t really have to be there. It did feel a bit dragged on and one of the Doctors from Doctor Who is a villain here (of course it’s the “foreigner is evil” trope).

Ah there’s the Level5 stream where they showed all their games – I only care about the new Layton game ;P They made sure to say that it’s 1 year after his last game (which came out many years ago oof) and that it will take time to localise outside of Japan when it does get done. They showed a quiz Youtuber group as the people who are making the puzzles this time? Puzzles in the Layton sequels got predictable and all that’s pulling me through was the story.

So I hope the puzzles will be great, refreshing and especially the story!! At least Luke looks a bit older and the steampunk designs look great! I’m glad Layton is back!! :0

Anyhoo I am overwhelmed by the art, life, computer and health things I’m juggling with this month. I’m not going to be too strict on whether or not I post on Mondays, just as long as the minimum of 2 posts for the month are spaced out.

Internally stressing out since I’m an anxious blob ahhhhhhhhhhh haha…

So I’ll leave it at that for now; please take care! :’)
